Albany Bulb looking towards El Cerito, Monday 2nd August

Out painting with the East Bay Landscape Painters and really struggled with the first pic until I worked on it in the studio today, unifying the colors and simplifying quite a lot. The second image I painted mostly on site as the clouds began to disappear almost on cue at 12 noon. Within minutes, the sky was blue and colors all changed again. I left out everything beyond the freeway and wanted something abstract and very horizontal to emphasize the power of the concrete against the sky.
